Erin McDougall

Erin grew up in Falls Church, VA and graduated pre-school knowing she wanted to be a
veterinarian. She began riding horses at the age of 6. She started riding on family farms in
Melbourne, Australia, and continued riding hunter/jumpers until graduating from high school.
Throughout high school, Erin worked at a local barn and taught riding lessons after school and
on weekends. Erin attended Virginia Tech for her undergraduate degree and graduated with
honors with a major in Animal and Poultry Sciences.

She loved Blacksburg so much that she stayed another four years to attend the Virginia-
Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Throughout vet school, she participated in
several clubs, including the American Association of Equine Practitioners. During her clinical
year, she was awarded the ACVS’s Student Surgical Proficiency Award for large animal surgery.
Erin is happy to be back in the northern Virginia area, and thrilled to be a part of the team at
Piedmont Equine. She is excited to advance her skills and knowledge of equine medicine during
her internship this year. During her free time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with friends
and family, and many outdoor activities, including anything on the water, running, and hiking
with her dog, Doogie.
