The Piedmont Equine Practice provides consistent, reliable care every day of the year to all types of horses to a large practice area. Emergency service is available within a 35 mile radius of the clinic, but elective and routine care can be scheduled beyond that boundary.
A team of veterinarians is on call for urgent questions, farm calls, intensive care, and surgery around the clock including holidays and weekends. Through constant communication and careful scheduling, the veterinarians and staff at Piedmont Equine strive to ensure that every emergency is addressed in a timely and thorough manner.
Vaccines and Deworming administered according to the latest research on disease pathology and parasite resistance. Schedules are adjusted to meet the needs of the individual horse.

Lameness and Prepurchase Exams can be performed on the farm in most situations. Digital radiography and ultrasonography can be scheduled in advance for a farm call when needed.

The Piedmont Equine Practice offers a wide range of reproductive services for mares, both on the farm and in clinic, depending on the procedure. Through a combination of years of experience and Theriogenology residency training, our two doctors with special interests in reproduction offer both traditional services as well as more advanced procedures.
Services include:
-Breeding soundness exams
-Uterine diagnostics (culture, cytology, and biopsy)
-Reproductive tract ultrasonography
-Hysteroscopy
-Standard treatment of uterine issues
-Specialized uterine treatments such as PRP and deep horn misoprostol
-Breeding management and artificial insemination (fresh semen, cooled semen, and frozen semen via deep horn insemination)

-Pregnancy diagnosis and management
-Fetal sexing
-Fetal and placental monitoring throughout pregnancy
-Brood mare and foal primary care and management
-Reproductive surgery such as Caslick's management and castration

*we encourage all those interested in ET to reach out for more information regarding securing a contract on a recipient mare as we do not maintain a recipient herd
Additionally, limited stallion evaluation to include physical exam and ultrasound of the testicles and accessory sex glands is available. We do not have facilities to collect stallions, however, we can provide a list of facilities that offer this service. We do routine semen evaluations on all semen provided to us for breeding.
